Allotment 2015
Into the new year brings exciting plans for my lovely half allotment. I have been planning all winter to work with the no dig method. I have gave read info on this and most inspiring is Charles Dowding. This man is a wealth of knowledge and has proven that the no dig method can be really successful.
This is my original half , covered in manure!
And now introducing our second half, we have inherited some goodies such as a compost bin and slightly weathered potting shed. I am so excited. With more space we hope to grow some good old staples and extend the growing year.
As you can see the new plot needs has some work needed. but I'm already dreaming of summer bountiful veggies.
I am tempted to see if we can live off our veggies alone, although this is a little scary, any other allotmentiers set themselves challenges or want to join in?
My allotment has been a little neglected recently, so I need to find some time to head down there and get some digging done. I've bought some raspberry canes and roses which I want to get planted soon. I have always got such good plans but time seems to get away from me when it comes to the plot.
ReplyDeleteI think most gardens are neglected this time of year, when it's warm we will all be inspired to bet outside a little more. Good luck.

ReplyDeleteBest wishes with your veggie/ garden.. We are still too cold to work our garden, But, I look so forward to getting out there and working and harvesting the results..We normally grow enough vegetables to fill our deep freeze each year.[such a blessing], On Kenny's Camp house land, there are lots of fruit trees/grapes,berries,etc.. and we have planted more..So hoping to have lots of fruit this year too. Enjoy...
I forget Judy that you and Kenny are blessed with space! It sounds amazing, I am very envious.
DeleteLooks exciting. I am only planning a few containers...salad, potatoes and beans I think. Xx
ReplyDeletecontainer gardening can be really effective, there are loads of small varieties to try too.
DeleteHow lovely to have a bit extra space I can't wait to see what you grow! I think I will have to look into the no dig method, it sounds like something I could try myself! x
ReplyDeleteWith new space comes more responsibility (not quite the quote from spider-man but oh well!) I am hoping that growing a few basics will use up the space, my new motto is every good meal starts with an onion, I plan to plant loads. You must be looking forward to your new plot too.
