DRESSMAKING. I have a theroy......

Today I have either lost my mind and a lot of money or I have done something very clever!! Today I subscribed to Burda magazine, I know you are thinking this really isn't going to work well with spending less ect ect. but I have a theory......

My theory comes from the fact I am about to plan my winter wardrobe. I have gone through my already have patterns and to be honest not much is looking that cosy for the winter! I have also tr walled through a few pattern sites, I hate this, I find it so hard to commit to one pattern, scared I'm making the right choice. Therefore I think that if I have the Burda magazine for one year I will have plenty of patterns that will have clothes for every season without the above stress. Also a good pattern can cost up to £10 and I would only get seven if buying individually.

My new challenge is now not to buy any more patterns (because I wont need to) If I want anything more vintage I can dip into my own stash. Backed with my fabric thrifting I'm onto a winner!!

  2. I do like Burda and have a stash of about 6 issues and probably won't buy many patterns for a while, although I do have a wish list for Christmas for a couple of Colette patterns!

  4. I think this is a great idea - I have been trying to find subscription details for Australian readers. I love burda patterns - great detailling - if a little light on directions.

  5. I think its a great idea, I have subscribed to the sew magazines and they are really great, though starting to get a bit repetitive so subs for a year is definitely a good plan!

PS I have given your most fabulous of blogs an award! See my blog for details!

  6. well I'm glad you all love the magazine idea, I'll keep you posted to see if the no pattern buying really works or am I just kidding myself.
I too have tried Sew magazine, they have sent out the wrong pattern three times and I'm finding it a bit samey, so I've now stopped, BUT a quick heads up. Molly Makes, brilliant!

  7. Good for you! My subscription is up for renewal and I'm debating about it for another year. There are so many "meh" opinions about the BurdaStyle Magazine on sewing blogs everywhere, and last year was my first year with it. Personally I really like it - it saves on patterns and my daughters can pore over them and think about what they'd like. Hmmm.. I think I'm talking myself into renewing for another year.....
